At Summer Jos we use organic vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers from our own organic fields and gardens in the memorable meals prepared by our talented crew. Summer Jos restaurant opened in May, 1999 and immediately began winning plaudits for its ambiance and fine food. Making the most of its location on an organic farm, the restaurant uses a wide and innovative range of the freshest possible ingredients, while diners have the option of outdoor seating in an idyllic garden environment. Ingredients fresh from the farm, expertly and artfully prepared and graciously served: thats what turns the act of eating into an experience to savor. Thats what you'll find every day at Summer Jo's.

Chef Joy's New Summer Menu It's time to say a fond farewell to winter fare, cellar the rich reds, and get ready to greet Chef Joy's new Summer menu. On it you'll find revivals of classic favorites such as our Anderson Ranch Lamb Chops with Mint Glaze, Summer Vegetables, and Parsley-buttered Potatoes, Grilled Filet Mignon with Buttermilk-mashed Potatoes, Duck Confit with Coconut Curry Sauce on Citrus-scented Rice, and for our vegetarian friends, Chickpeas and Summer Vegetables steamed in Peanut Sauce with broccoli, cabbage, carrots, poblano chiles, ginger, and mint. In addition to enjoying our Fish Du Jour (always seasonal and sustainable of course), don't let summer pass you by without trying a small plate of Seared Scallops with Cider Brown Butter. Joy regularly reinvents the wheel with her Pizza Du Jour, which is a great way to get a sample of some of the freshest food on the farm on a single slice.

Plenty of fish in the sea?
Love fish? We do too. That's why our Fish Du Jour is always a catch you can count on being both good on your plate and good for our oceans. According to the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Program, 70 percent of the world's fisheries are being harvested at capacity or are in outright decline. :(
If you would like to join us in making more sustainable seafood choices, Seafood Watch is a great resource to identify sustainable seafood. They even have an iPhone app for the most up-to-date recommendations. Check out their Super Green List which also tracks toxins and suggests fish that are low in environmental contaminants.

Organic Farm Our certified organic farm supplies our restaurant with a wide range of vegetables, edible flowers, and culinary herbs. This rare combination of a restaurant on a farm means that our chefs get to work with the absolutely freshest produce possible, grown to their specifications. Of course, you can buy our organic produce, too, in our Farm Stand or at area farmers' markets. Summer Jo's Farm, Garden, and Restaurant is located at 2315 Upper River Road Loop, on the outskirts of Grants Pass, Oregon, in the heart of the fertile Rogue Valley. Feel free to explore the farm and gardens when you visit.
